Emergency Communications Support Team (CS245)

Under the leadership of the Moraga Orinda Fire Protection District (MOFD), a team of experienced communications volunteers provides emergency communications support to the City of Orinda, MOFD, and community organizations requesting assistance with communications at local events. Members of this team are, at minimum, Federally licensed Amateur Radio Operators (hams) with additional training in communications and other recognized Public Safety skills.

The Emergency Communications Support team staffs the Communications Support Vehicle (CS245) when it is called out by an Incident Commander during a fire or other significant event. We provide communications services as well as Staging and Checkin support for larger incidents.

In addition to the Fire Service, the team has been designated as the Emergency Communications Support team for the City of Orinda. The City's emergency preparedness officials can request support for any civil requirement from a full on emergency to a city event like "Orinda in Action Day". The team maintains amateur radio stations in the primary and backup emergency operations centers and supports the station at Miramonte High School.
